Modern Software Engineer — AI & LLM-Aware Development
A hands-on programmer who understands modern software development and can use LLMs and AI coding tools without outsourcing engineering judgment to the tools.
Someone who can still write, read and debug code.
We are looking for a modern software engineer with recent practical programming experience. The specific language matters less than the ability to understand a codebase, reason about a problem, use modern tools, and deliver working software.
Core expectations
- Recent hands-on programming experience in at least one current programming language.
- Ability to understand requirements and turn them into working software.
- Comfort reading, modifying, debugging and testing existing code.
- Working knowledge of APIs, databases, version control and deployment concepts.
AI-assisted development
- Practical experience with one or more LLM or AI coding tools.
- Ability to use AI tools for exploration, coding, debugging, documentation or testing.
- Ability to review generated code critically rather than accepting it blindly.
- Curiosity about agentic and LLM-enabled development workflows.
Evidence we value
- GitHub repositories, technical projects or other demonstrable work.
- Open-source contributions are useful but not mandatory.
- If employer restrictions prevent showing code, describe the architecture and contribution and demonstrate what can safely be shown.
- We care more about evidence of real work than a long list of tools.
Useful background
Web applications, APIs, AdTech, data systems, automation, cloud environments or other production software experience can all be relevant.
What you don't need
You do not need to know every AI framework or every tool in the ecosystem. Strong fundamentals and the ability to learn are more important.
